Detecting the start of a fire: our video walls are learning to see smoke
Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence. We have been developing software for 30 years. We did not discover AI with the fashion: in other forms, we have been working alongside it for 20 years.
We are not fire detection specialists, and we are not trying to replace professionals in the field. Our idea is simpler: to offer this detection on top of the practical functions of CollectivView, for everyone, at a low price.
One more pair of eyes for the operator
We are teaching our video walls to spot the start of a fire: an artificial intelligence that sees smoke as early as possible, then flames, on any camera displayed on the wall.
Outdoors or indoors: a forest watched by a lookout camera, a car park, a warehouse, a shopping arcade, a museum. The operator stays in control. The AI draws their eye to the right image, in addition to the systems already in place.
How it learns
- 124,650 images to learn from, some taken from videos;
- 83,274 with smoke or flames, to learn to recognise them;
- 41,376 without fire, to learn not to raise the alarm for nothing: a floodlight, a reflection, a sunset;
- it goes over the whole set 30 times: about 3.7 million images seen during training.
Everything runs on site
No need for a monster machine: detection runs on the PC, with no cloud and no subscription, and the training itself was done at our premises, locally. It is the same philosophy as for all our software, designed in France: your images stay with you.
CollectivView is offered from €3,000 excl. VAT, lifetime licence.
Still learning
Our young AI is still learning: it is currently being tested on our test machine. In the video, you can see our test wall and demonstration videos. More is coming very soon.
The subject is not new to us: the SDIS 29 was already displaying forest fire detection cameras on an Easy Multi Display video wall.
