LED wall in a crisis room: 200 kg carried by an aluminium stand
Live from the control room of the Hérault COD (departmental operations centre) in Montpellier: we are assembling the stand for our LED wall. An installation that starts a bit like LEGO Technic.
The weight on the floor, not on the partition
The LED wall weighs roughly 200 kg. Here, the partition is not a load-bearing wall: the aluminium stand rests on the floor and carries the whole weight. The wall fixing is only there to resist pull-out.
Another advantage of this load-bearing structure: easy maintenance.
A stand made in France
The stand is made by Kimex, a French company based near Bordeaux. We fit many different stands, and an LED wall is somewhat specific: with Kimex, communication is easy and they are very available.
Once the wall was in place, we spent half a day training the COD users. In a control room, the truth comes from the field: we learn every day.
