Pro-Resilience: does it hold up when the heat is on?

An integrator in our industry recently published a courageous post on the excesses of all-IP in professional AV. He won’t make only friends, but on substance, he is right.

On our side, in crisis rooms, Guy and I made a fairly simple choice: the less network intelligence there is in the critical chain, the better we sleep.

All-IP works very well… as long as everything works. Perfect for a trade show demo or a well-polished LinkedIn post. But in degraded conditions, in real life, you want to keep displaying, controlling and deciding without depending on a complex architecture or an external provider with a Martian budget.

In the operations centres we equip, we favour:

  • hardware capture cards;
  • compartmentalised architectures;
  • one-way video feeds;
  • hardware we control from end to end.

We use our own Arduino-based KVMs to keep the control logic simple: one station transmits, the other receives. Full stop (TX, RX).

No Rube Goldberg machine. No critical network dependency. No IP engineer required to restart a room.

This is not anti-IP. It is Pro-Resilience - and 10 times cheaper, by the way. And genuinely secure: with no attack surface other than physical access, our video wall solution runs entirely off-network.

In a crisis room, the question is not “is it modern?”. The question is: “does it hold up when the heat is on?”
