To use the Elgato Cam Link Pro, a powerful CPU is essential. The minimum recommended specifications include:
- Processor: Intel Core i7 (6th generation or newer) or AMD Ryzen 7
- PCIe Requirements: The Cam Link Pro requires a PCIe x4, x8, or x16 slot to function optimally.
These specifications ensure smooth handling of high-definition video capture and encoding, even when capturing multiple HDMI streams up to 4K resolution.
Using a CPU that meets or exceeds these specifications is key for a seamless experience with Elgato’s Cam Link Pro.
1. First, ensure the connection between the capture PC and the PC with the Elgato is properly established.
To do this, install the 4K CAPTURE UTILITY software on the Elgato PC. You can download it here: https://www.elgato.com/en/downloads. Once installed, launch the software.
2. Verify that the capture PC is displayed in the interface.
If you don’t see the captured PC in the interface, or if there’s an issue with image quality, inverted colors, or any other display problem, there’s no need to configure EMD or Drag&Drop yet.
3. HDMI connection advice
If you mistakenly connected the HDMI cable to the motherboard output (motherboard GPUs are often too weak or unsuitable for capture), connect it instead to the graphics card on the source PC. This often resolves display issues.
Make sure to use high-quality, short HDMI cables as well.
4. Drag&Drop or EMD Settings
You need to set the output resolution to match the input resolution as indicated in the 4K CAPTURE UTILITY software. Depending on the input graphics card, you may also need to adjust the video chroma format; RGB32 is ideal in this case.
For professional installation and configuration assistance, don't hesitate to reach out. Ensuring that all hardware and software are properly configured can make a significant difference in your capture quality and reliability.
