Having the right screens is crucial to the effectiveness of your display so the question is what kind of TV can I use with EMD?

We've put our heads together and come up with some questions to ask yourself before choosing your display screens.

Questions

1. What is your budget?

If you primarily make decisions based on pricing, then knowing your budget is important before you get started so that you know what you can afford and don't waste time looking at options that are not within your price range.

2. What is the purpose of your displays?

People use displays for many different reasons, some small business owners display their menu on a small screen inside their restaurant, so an affordable generic brand TV may suit them just fine, while other larger clients use these screens as upmarket advertising space in their shop windows and thus they seek out more professional looking screens with crisp lines and minimal bevels. How will you be using your displays?

3. How often will the screen be used?

Will you be running your display 24 / 7, or for only a few hours per day? When choosing your screen, be sure to ask your retail assistant about screen life-span. Traditionally LCD screens have a longer life span than plasma displays, however check with your display retailer to discover the most recent technological advances.

4. What will be the physical composition of your displays?

Are you seeking traditional landscape format, or do you prefer the portrait orientation for your screen?
How much wall or floor space have you allocated for your displays?

This will inform you of the maximum size of screen that you can consider. If you are planning on putting multiple displays together, consider the screen bezel size too.

Separation between screens

5. What kind of fixtures will you need?

Do you need a display case, or entertainment unit? Perhaps you need wall mounts, or a projector and a projector screen?

6. What kind of display are you looking for?

There are many different options in the world of display mediums.

  • A classic TV, about 250 cd / m²
  • Dynamic display screen from 300 cd / m² to 4000 cd / m² with better anti-reflection treatment.
  • Your answers to the above questions will help you decide on the final choice of your display medium.

The best known brands in the field of digital signage are LG, Samsung and NEC.
Their specialized screens guarantee a low failure rate.

You can use any generic TV screens indoors with low light exposure, however be aware that they may not yield the same performance or reliability as professional digital signage displays.
